VIENNA IN ONE DAY - TRAVEL GUIDE
MORNING
Breakfast or Brunch
Start your day with a breakfast or brunch. There are many good brunch and breakfast spots in Vienna. A popular place among locals is the Spittelberg in the 7th district. There you can find the Burggasse 24 Café, a hip concept store, which is divided into a vintage boutique and a cozy café with a living room atmosphere. Perfect for enjoying a relaxed breakfast and shopping for some vintage treasures afterwards. For those who prefer a more extensive brunch, Erich and Ulrich right around the corner offer a first-class brunch menu at the charming Ulrichsplatz! They also have a very nice terrace outside so you can enjoy your breakfast in the sun.
Museum Visit
After the culinary strengthening, the quarter can still be explored. Within walking distance you can find the Museumsquartier, the art and cultural center of Vienna. There you can relax in one of the “Enzis” in the sun and visit one of the many museums, among others the Leopold Museum or the Mumok. The famous Kunst- and Naturhistorisches Museum are also located directly opposite the Museumsquartier.
NOON
Lunch at Naschmarkt
The Naschmarkt offers the perfect spot for lunch or just a quick snack in between. There is a big variety of foods from all over the world that can be tasted at every corner and there are also many good restaurants that offer lunch menus during the week. Naschmarkt is also a popular spot among locals to go for a drink or coffee when the sun is out. On Saturdays from 6.30AM to 14.00PM there is also a flea market at the Naschmarkt.
AFTERNOON
Explore the Inner City
From the Naschmarkt you can reach the 1st district, the city center, by foot. In the charming old town simply stroll through the streets. The numerous sights (St. Stephen's Cathedral, State Opera, Albertina, Riding School, Hofburg, etc.) are all within walking distance.
Viennese Coffee Culture
Of course, coffee and cake in an old Viennese coffee house should not be missed. The coffeehouse culture is firmly rooted in the Viennese tradition. Typical old Viennese coffee houses are for example the Café Hawelka, Café Landtmann or Gerstner. If you want to have a coffee away from the tourists, you can also visit the French Boulangerie Parémi. The coffee and croissants are delicious!
EVENING
Sunset in Schönbrunn
After exploring the city center, it is best to drive to Schönbrunn to enjoy the sunset. From the Gloriette you have a fantastic view over Vienna. Small tip: Bring a picnic blanket and a bottle of rosé to enjoy the sunset over a glass of wine.
Dinner
For dinner we recommend the restaurant Mochi near the Danube Canal. Mochi is a small designer restaurant that combines traditional Japanese cuisine with a variety of international cuisines. Since it’s a very popular dinner spot in town and mostly fully booked, make sure to book in advance.
Drinks at Donaukanal
The two restaurants are perfectly located to follow up with drinks at the Danube canal after dinner. Here you can find numerous outdoor (beach-) bars, such as Tel Aviv Beach or Blumenwiese, where you can end the evening with a drink right by the water.
